December 2014 - I Can See Clearly Now
December 23: Well! A whirlwind of good news for the band. Starting off with "Bad Taboo" charting #1, Top 10, Top 30 worldwide as various stations continue to pick it up since its release in May 2014. By the same token, "100%" and “Original Sin”, are still going strong on the airwaves and online. At the home front, we were invited to do a Holiday tune on TV where we made an announcement on Global TV Montreal. Can ya'll dig it?! As mentioned on TV, we will be needing your help. Another note of excitement was when we received news that the Album and Title Track charted #1 in British Columbia! HOME, albeit far from our home base of Montreal but HOME indeed!
The most recent activity for the Album is the nomination for Blind Lemon Blues in Newfoundland for the Top 20 Canadian Albums of the year. It would be nice if you all can help with the good momentum that's been happening and vote for us. We're under "Fe, Carolyn Blues Collective"
So in the spirit of the Holiday Season, we wish you a very safe and Happy ChristmaHannuKwanzaa! May you always be surrounded with those you love, music that suits your moods, and good wishes that come true. We thank you for being with us in the past years and look forward to sharing with you what 2015 has in store for us. Hope to see you at the New Year's Eve Party at the House of Jazz in Montreal!
December 11: November was a month where I needed to step back and just let things go. I think that I was feeling the year in my bones. Bad Taboo made a lot of headway in 2014. Head down pushing forward, all in all, it was quite an amazing year. I remember when we were knee deep in the process of the album; my insecurities took the best of me and had writer's block on top of all of life's interruptions. The guys liked the songs and I just couldn't get a grasp on it. I was too close to it, looking at the tree instead of the forest. Bad Taboo certainly got the attention of folks outside of Quebec, which is kind of a bittersweet triumph. One would hope that folks at home would champion local efforts. But hey, that's OK. I get it. Sometimes, one must leave the comforts of their home to find their footing. We've seen it again and again - home grown talent moving out to spread their wings, getting the work that they so much deserve only to return as a visitor back home. Hmmm...Foreshadowing for 2015? Who knows. One thing for sure, the push for Bad Taboo will continue on in the New Year as we continue on with our 4th album. As it stands, every time I want to post something on the blog I get some news about how the album is charting. The most recent and most exciting news is that on December 1st, Bad Taboo (the album) won the Blues411.com Jimi Award for International Release of the Year! Then just today, I get news from 92.5FM CFBX in Kamloops, BC that the album charted #1! And THEN the album gets to be on the Top Favourites on a radio station in Germany! DANG!!! I can't keep up with all the good news! 2014 is ending on a great note. We have 2 shows left in 2014. Come out and see us at the House of Jazz in Montreal. Come say Hello! I love chatting with you good folks.
