April 9: Easter long weekend was quite the party.  I went to the Gala to pick up the award bestowed upon me by The North American Filipino Star (newspaper) and Mabuhay Montreal TV.  What a night it was! A glamorous evening shared by the Filipino community.  Photos are here:  Gala Award Night.  There were four of us that were honored.  Paul Baluyot (comedian), Maria Janice Galvez aka Maira and Cherylyn Toca (singers) and myself. It is an honor to be acknowledged by one’s own community not only as an artist but as someone who promotes a positive image of Filipino-Canadians. Awards like this mean so much to me. There is no soliciting of votes amongst friends which I find such awards become popularity contests.  As you know, the band is on the Quebec Lys Blues nominations list as well as the CBC Searchlight. We have to do what has to be done to get the word out about the band. But being acknowledged just because we do what we love is priceless.  See you in May!
