Carolyn Fe joins her Toronto Blues Sisters for a wild night of Old Style Dirty Blues in a naughty kind of way. In the early days of the blues it wasn’t always considered “proper” for women to become musicians and even less so for them to sing about sex (gasp!). It was common for women to use euphemisms and carefully worded innuendo when referring to anything sexual. Hence, a woman’s sexual organs became a fruit basket  or a hot stove. Of course, over time, it became less and less subtle, sometimes to hilarious or heated result. Singers such as Lucille Bogan, Dinah Washington and Alberta Hunter made instant classics that continue to inspire today.
